PCCF Q&A (beware of spoilers)

so i was going to wait a couple days for everything to settle, but i'm already bored and missing my fic, so. several ppl have been asking stuff about the vid, and leaving epic comments and not wanting to let go of it and such, so redorchids suggested having a pccf Q&A, since apparently neither of us is ready to let go of this fic, either. red sez:

So. 93k words of fic. One hell of a ride, during which there was lots of cutting, re-writing, debating and flailing over things. Some of the stuff that didn't make it will end up in a Director's Cut kind of deal eventually, but until then, we thought we'd pass the time by letting anyone who wants ask any question about pccf, the writing of it, inspiration, the vid--anything really.

Want to know the story behind Ryan's safeword? Where all the French came from? What was going through Ryan's head during the spooning!sex? What sparked this or that scene? Who wrote what? What movie the naked boys on the bed in the vid are from? Something else? Put your question in a comment, and we will get back to you. :-)

i'd like to add that this doubles as something akin to that timestamp post that was going around some weeks back, where if you give me a point in time in the future of this fic, i'll write you 100 words of what's going on in that moment. or something. it may not be 100 words or formal fic, but i'll certainly tell you what's going on. :P i had a great image last night of jon and spencer pounding on ryan and brendon's hotel room door some 10-12 months later and bellowing, "are you done fucking yet?" jon adds, "we have popcorn." zack adds, "and beer," and brendon's sold.

so, ask away.

1. lol, well... it's not something i've ever experienced myself, so. there are different viewpoints on nirvana. some people (myself included) believe it's not One Point you reach, but rather you get there in stages; you achieve different levels of enlightenment. so i think ryan definitely reached one of those. it was a turning point in his mind, in his awareness of himself; i think it was the moment it finally started to sink in that he was in this pretty deep, that he was falling in love, and -- more frightening still -- that that was okay! lol. ryan has such tremendous fears. but, as for The Ultimate Nirvana, no, there's no way he's in a place at this point to reach that. that's... something achieved by people in much higher spiritual planes. and ryan was right, you probably aren't going to get there by smoking weed and drinking. :P

2. no title yet; i think he mentions that in the fic. those lyrics are red's, so i guess it'll be up to her if she wants to come up with a title. ;)

3. oh, god, that's a very cool idea! i think that's something we can work on for the director's cut, definitely. i'll talk to red.

4. that scene was indeed mine, and thank you so much! it was written in about 20 minutes and then i spent about an hour editing it to get it right. it was agonizing. mostly improvised, none of it was in the outline. my best scenes always tend to follow that pattern. maybe i should plan less. ;)

ahaha, as for nicknames... not sure if the boys would really go for that, but i can see ryan calling him "bear," just... not necessarily in public. ;) but he did call keltie "monkey" in the P.O. liner notes, so who knows. it's possible... brendon totally would come up with lame nicknames, and ryan would be so embarrassed. XD

Oh okay, I thought so b/c if he did reach it fully (even if it was for a brief moment) that would've been kind of out there b/c of, like you said, the drugs and such. But hey, does he continue with his yoga zen thing or was it just another phase? I picture it being something that he and Brendon always share from then on (once they get too old to hold each other up they just...meditate!) and nobody gets it and they poke fun at Bden b/c he gave in to Ryan's "zen master powers" at the cabin :P

Haha, yeah cutesy nicknames get old when the characters use them too much, but I think for them it would be like a private joke and they never say it out loud too much and not in front of others, especially Ryan with his ~prideandmaturity (though Jon and Spencer would totally use it against them).

So yeah, the liner notes thing would be a really sweet addition :D It's kind of like wedding vows now that I think about it. But not. Heh. Less formal, obviously, and they're not confessions of love... When will this director's cut be posted btw? Do you guys know yet?

right. and i'm kind of on the same page as you with that; i think for ryan, in a way, it *was* sort of the next phase, but getting to share it with brendon kind of solidified it. they're never going to be zen masters, but i see it as a very present part of ryan's life from now on; i see them still doing yoga together and stuff.

yeah, the liner notes thing reminds me of red's "crossroads" fic, which omg, you should read if you haven't. it's amazing. not sure when the director's cut will be ready; it'll take us awhile to organize it and stuff. there are still more things we have to add, too.
