...if, hypothetically, ryan were to suddenly reveal the results of his piano lessons (which he mentioned he was taking, years ago in interviews), what do you think he might like to play that brendon could walk in on and see? atm i'm leaning toward this. anyone who's seen the truman show will appreciate.

link me to your youtube choices? doesn't have to be classical, but i'm thinking something gentle and romantic. btw, chapter 1 of pccf is underway and i maybe kind of love it a lot. \o/

before i go, a few recs, which i never bother with unless i don't think they've been publicized as much as they deserve.

Reinvent Love by my dearest new friend ella; i'm proud to say i've been helping inspire her, supposedly, since chapter 5-ish. it's almost done; by the time you catch up, the last chapter might be up. it's a classic ryden chronicle without being cliche; she's only been writing slash two months and she's off to a great start, just made a masterlist too, so check it out. the italy!fic she's writing me, omg. ♥ also, the elf!fic series by [livejournal.com profile] moku_youbi, which i meant to rec awhile ago; specifically the jon/spence/ryan, is possibly my favourite thing i read all last year; so proud to have been the beta. also, becca's vampire!fic, the only het i've been able to read in the past five years and actually love. she worked long and hard (lolz) on it and it was all worth it.

also, thanks to everyone for all the great bits of conversation on my last post, about fic theory and genderswap and whatnot. some of the comments are really interesting if you care to read. my new friend [livejournal.com profile] j_plash says lots of cool things (like calling fanfic "derivative fiction," which is the awesomest term ever and i'm going to go around telling everyone i know that i write DERIVATIVE FICTION, because it sounds SO COOL). it's really nice that we can all talk like that, express differing opinions in respectful ways, instead of arguing like stupid internet drama queens. hah. thanks guys.

p.s. this is why we have been friends for six (seven??) years. jesus. also, another cheer from my boss. also i do an interpretive dance. no, really. and then because that wasn't embarrassing enough, i came home and keri and i made this.

happy friday!

lol, 'derivative fiction'.
i still give people shit for thinking that all fanfiction is slash, because, y'know, i was originally in het. HP fic fandom, so i like to defend me roots. lol.
i do have to admit that slash is way better than HP het. was. lol.

...how many times have i said 'lol' in this so far? jfc.

LOL. but there's nothing wrong with slash! we must stick up for ourselves, or the view of fanficcers (derivative fiction writers) will never be elevated to legit.

/activism. XD

lol, i never said there was anything wrong with slash, why the hell would I of all people think that? i started reading slash when i was twelve, manbitch. xD

i hate it when people act like slash writers aren't any writers. why the hell not? because we use real people as our characters? we're the ones who give them their personalities within the fiction, and slash writers are fucking dedicated, for the most part. my fiends don't know about my ~slash thing, except Gabe, and she's cool with it because she gets it, whereas the others, from what i've got of their general opinions on my love for bands and such, would just be like 'oh, why don't you write actual fiction?" Although i could be wrong - it's not really my place to assume.

lol. slash rants.

well yeah but i mean, like, ugh, i guess it just pisses me off that ppl would dislike fic even more b/c of the slash element. the world sucks.

i know. i knowwwww, that's what i hate the most. i think fic can be harder to write well than real fiction, sometimes. you don't have your own characters that you can do whatever the hell you want with; you're working with established characters and it's your job to work in those restrictions, in their universe, with their personalities, their lives. that's a challenge, and very few people pull it off!

this is one of my favourites, and probably always will be, despite its mass popularity at weddings.

this is my favourite to play, and it's not very hard until the middle, really.

IF you don't want to only stick to classical stuff, these are good songs with piano in them..
Brick
Vienna
Comfortably Numb (my fav)
Hurt
Echoes (also my fav)
Do You Realize
Viva La Vida
Clocks
and that's it before i go even more overboard.

exactly. and it sucks when people just change the characters to be who they want and don't even work with the guidelines of the person's basic characteristics. unless, y'know, it's crack!fic, but i guess that's the point of crack!fic anyways. [i totally tried to save kitteh!fic there. heeeee]

i mean, if you're gonna use real people and then change them entirely, what's the point of using them in the first place? why not just make it original fiction? and then there's writers who just do that and put it in bandom jsut so that it can get read, and it's not as if there's a shortage of places to post original fiction.

lols. my opinions; they are rampant and wordy.

exactly; which is why i'm not a huge fan of AUs in general, especially when they're basing it on a book or movie or something. sometimes they work, but it's a fine line. (personally i just like my RPS to be, y'know, real.) that is also my argument against genderswap, because i think a character's gender changing as flippantly as the weather is creating a new character. with society's genderization of everything, you can't expect they'd be the same person. but, y'know, that's just me.

lol, i get that, but personally i love AUs and i guess genderswap is my dirty little secret. :D lol. mostly i just have a thing for girl!mikeyway.

but yeah, book/movie AUs are weird, not a big fan of them. like, there was this MyChem/buffy-the-movie AU, and i was just like 'eww. no. mychem and buffy? that's just weird, dude."

lol.

mmm indeed we do. however, one thing i've noticed people don't admit to liking is girlslash. i mean, c'mon, girlslash is awesome. srsly. I think one of my favourite things I've ever read was a Greta/Victoria, and i would give anything to find it again :/
[speaking of which, i am so fucking stuck with mine. this is me begging for your help. I WILL BE YOUR JAILBAIT IF YOU HELP ME, COLIN.]

LOL. GERARD WOULDN'T KILL THE VAMPIRES, HE'D JUST TOTALLY BE FRIENDS WITH THEM. i've never seen the movie, but the series i was watching earlier, lol. wouldn't that make Mikey Dawn? and Frank would be Willow, and Toro would be Xander. but I don't see Bob as Angel...BERT MCCRACKEN WOULD SO TOTALLY BE ANGEL. SRSLY. [bob could be Faith?] I AM GETTING TOO INTO THIS. NEED TO STOP NAO.

heeeeeee.

sorry, buffy fan butting in here...

angel couldn't be any of the MCR guys, he'd have to be someone outside, but bert's too spazzy to fit. like i saw them live and he was making "your mom" jokes. which would NEVER happen with angel. i'd say...idk, there are very few possibilites, most bandom boys are too extroverted. maybe adam lazzara? or, like, chris carabba. someone SUPERemo.

okay. anyway. done now.

dude, DUDE. Adam Lazzara as Angel: YES. Chris Carraba could be...uhm...idk. [Brian Molko could be the mayor. just saying.] Bert could be Faith, maybe? only a little less spazzy...

well if adam lazzara was angel then jesse lacey could be spike, with christine nolan as druscilla :D except jesse lacey's too wimpy. spike's my favorite character EVER, we'd need someone better for him...i'm coming up blank.

WAIT. WILLIAM BECKETT AS BUFFY AND TOM CONRAD AS FAITH. and brendon could totally be willow, all nerdy and stuff, and ryho could be tara...or better yet, oz! with the monotone. okay i'm totally getting carried away and forgetting the whole MCR thing. make me stop...

AND YESM RYRO AS OZ. AND SHANE VALDEZ AS TARA. EHEHEHE.

christine nolan = john nolan's sister = the girl that allegedly cheated on somebody with the other somebody, those somebodies being jesse and adam. she was part of the whole breakup thing.

gabe...maybe GABE could be spike! he's got the wisecracking down. although he's just not...cool enough, somehow. maybe mikeyway should be spike.

pete could be faith. he's got the ~troubled thing goin' on.

WAIT WHO'S GILES!?!?!?!
