before i go, a few recs, which i never bother with unless i don't think they've been publicized as much as they deserve.

Reinvent Love by my dearest new friend ella; i'm proud to say i've been helping inspire her, supposedly, since chapter 5-ish. it's almost done; by the time you catch up, the last chapter might be up. it's a classic ryden chronicle without being cliche; she's only been writing slash two months and she's off to a great start, just made a masterlist too, so check it out. the italy!fic she's writing me, omg. ♥ also, the elf!fic series by moku_youbi, which i meant to rec awhile ago; specifically the jon/spence/ryan, is possibly my favourite thing i read all last year; so proud to have been the beta. also, becca's vampire!fic, the only het i've been able to read in the past five years and actually love. she worked long and hard (lolz) on it and it was all worth it.

also, thanks to everyone for all the great bits of conversation on my last post, about fic theory and genderswap and whatnot. some of the comments are really interesting if you care to read. my new friend j_plash says lots of cool things (like calling fanfic "derivative fiction," which is the awesomest term ever and i'm going to go around telling everyone i know that i write DERIVATIVE FICTION, because it sounds SO COOL). it's really nice that we can all talk like that, express differing opinions in respectful ways, instead of arguing like stupid internet drama queens. hah. thanks guys.

p.s. this is why we have been friends for six (seven??) years. jesus. also, another cheer from my boss. also i do an interpretive dance. no, really. and then because that wasn't embarrassing enough, i came home and keri and i made this.

i still give people shit for thinking that all fanfiction is slash, because, y'know, i was originally in het. HP fic fandom, so i like to defend me roots. lol.
i do have to admit that slash is way better than HP het. was. lol.

hmmm. I'm not so good with sonatas and all, but I DO know that Sonata No. 14 "Moonlight" (OR Moonlight Sonata, whichever you want to call it) by Beethoven was written during the late-classical early-romantic period.

I know the piece is like, 30 mins long (the 1st, 2nd and 3rd parts all together) but the first movement is kind of dark-ish, romantic-ish? yes. ;D

Oooh, piano. Gods. Um, yeah, the concerto they use in Truman Show *is* beautiful, and mostly very playable, if we're looking at Ryan not being epically good. What else...the Raindrop Prelude (more Chopin) is beautiful and not all that hard (maybe a little harder than the concerto, but not all that bad), and has the advantage of being mostly quiet and beautiful and romantic but having the passionate, muscular, stunning middle section that could be awfully fun to write about Ryan (or Brendon :P) playing. You probably know it (wait, you play, y/y?), but probably the most popular recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=825Ekk1u3mQ. I like it with a bit more pedal and a touch more rubato (and speed?) in the opening of the middle section, but I am completely unqualified to say that in the face of Vladimir Horowitz's legendariness :P

Um, what else...oh, oh man, um, there is a Debussy nocturne in my head that is incredibly beautiful and romantic and I can't think which one it is. There's lots of wonderful Debussy that's quiet and romantic, though. Oh, man, or if you're up for a minor key (no idea what kind of scene you're wanting this for, lol, but you can so picture it, night, a single dim light on the piano, and the melancholy notes of Ryan's song filling the moonlight...mmm), there's the classic one, Chopin's Nocturne in E Minor, um...here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIj8SeiKNEA. Wow, haven't played that in ages. I must pull it out. It's incredibly beautiful and romantic and just *melts*, especially right at the end. Seeps into your heart and lungs and the pores of your skin.

Oh, and I know which Debussy I was thinking of! Not a nocturne, the Reverie for Piano. Um...wow, there is a lack of professional recordings of it on youtube. This one's not bad though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhccX_LIsEo It's dreamy, like Debussy's slow stuff tends to be, and has those occasional odd moments of light discord that're always there in his work, but it's incredibly beautiful, *particularly* the opening...haha, I'm listening to it now and it reminds me of that interview Ryan gave where he said he was inspired by things like Paris and love stories.

Hm, now I'm trying to think of composers Ryan and Brendon have mentioned liking...and I can't remember :P I'll stop throwing things at you, anyhow. Soooo many options, lol. I wants to read this scene :D
