...if, hypothetically, ryan were to suddenly reveal the results of his piano lessons (which he mentioned he was taking, years ago in interviews), what do you think he might like to play that brendon could walk in on and see? atm i'm leaning toward this. anyone who's seen the truman show will appreciate.

link me to your youtube choices? doesn't have to be classical, but i'm thinking something gentle and romantic. btw, chapter 1 of pccf is underway and i maybe kind of love it a lot. \o/

before i go, a few recs, which i never bother with unless i don't think they've been publicized as much as they deserve.

Reinvent Love by my dearest new friend ella; i'm proud to say i've been helping inspire her, supposedly, since chapter 5-ish. it's almost done; by the time you catch up, the last chapter might be up. it's a classic ryden chronicle without being cliche; she's only been writing slash two months and she's off to a great start, just made a masterlist too, so check it out. the italy!fic she's writing me, omg. ♥ also, the elf!fic series by [livejournal.com profile] moku_youbi, which i meant to rec awhile ago; specifically the jon/spence/ryan, is possibly my favourite thing i read all last year; so proud to have been the beta. also, becca's vampire!fic, the only het i've been able to read in the past five years and actually love. she worked long and hard (lolz) on it and it was all worth it.

also, thanks to everyone for all the great bits of conversation on my last post, about fic theory and genderswap and whatnot. some of the comments are really interesting if you care to read. my new friend [livejournal.com profile] j_plash says lots of cool things (like calling fanfic "derivative fiction," which is the awesomest term ever and i'm going to go around telling everyone i know that i write DERIVATIVE FICTION, because it sounds SO COOL). it's really nice that we can all talk like that, express differing opinions in respectful ways, instead of arguing like stupid internet drama queens. hah. thanks guys.

p.s. this is why we have been friends for six (seven??) years. jesus. also, another cheer from my boss. also i do an interpretive dance. no, really. and then because that wasn't embarrassing enough, i came home and keri and i made this.

happy friday!

fucking BEAUTIFUL, although i prefer the tempo a little slower and more... drawn out, like you're pulling taffy. /wow, NERD

okay, i think i like this the best (for the scene you've described).

all these pieces (to me) are the kind that you can really put weight and beauty and emotion into. sooo... let me know which ones (if any) you like :)

ooooh. the last one really does feel like ryan to me... although since you gave me debussy now i'm leaning toward clair de lune (even if stupid twilight ruined it for the universe for all time to come)... damn it. i don't know. there's so much i want him to play. lol. (meanwhile ryan's glaring at me like, "dude, i've only been taking lessons a couple years, lemme alone.") i'll have to think about it. thanks!

To stick in my 2c uninvited :P Don't use Clair de Lune, dude. As much as it is absolutely one of the most beautiful things ever, it's used soooo often that it's hard not to sound cliched (you mentioned twilight already, lol). Plus, didn't you already use it in a fic? I could have sworn you did :P Alternatively, I could be on crack :P

i'm not; i just love it so much. but yeah, it's so overused it's lost its significance, which just BLOWS.

i used moonlight sonata in pwf. close enough. lol

Heh, I am going to sound like the most ridiculous stalker ever now, but I had to check and prove I'm not on crack ;D You used it in your old Patrick/Brendon one-shot :P (and it was awesome, 'cause that was kind of crackish anyway, in the most excellent possible way XD)

Oh, guh, yes, do you know I'd totally forgotten that? That was gorgeous. I want to go reread the whole of pwf now.

HAHAHA, not before a million other references. But I can't think of any of them right now, so you win XD Also 'cause I seriously adore that fic, and it didn't need ~serious piano music, 'cause it involved BRENDON DOING A STRIPTEASE and that automatically makes everything in it awesome :P

Oh, awesome, someone found a proper recording of the reverie. Ignore my rec of it below, this vid's better :D Gods I love that piece. The last minute and the first 30 seconds make me shiver.

Number 2 I do not know well, but agreed, keysmash. Gorgeous. Possibly a little hard for fic use (well, you could always have Ryan being a complete natural and awesomely good, but it would be so much more fun to have Brendon much better than him, no? :P)

Number 3 - aaaaahhhh how did I not think of this. *shiver* I adooooore this piece. Must locate my sheet music *immediately*. Agree on more drawn out - not necessarily slower, but just a touch more rubato dragging on the peaks of the first (and last) part to accentuate the way it pulses and soars and overtakes and just...guh. Debussy is amazing.

Number 4 - now, what was this used in recently? Was it in a movie last year? Maybe it was on an ad...it is indeed lovely, anyhow. I loooove...sort of 1:05-1:15 (odd part to like, I know :P) and 2:30-2:45.

Nice picks.
