PCCF Q&A (beware of spoilers)

so i was going to wait a couple days for everything to settle, but i'm already bored and missing my fic, so. several ppl have been asking stuff about the vid, and leaving epic comments and not wanting to let go of it and such, so redorchids suggested having a pccf Q&A, since apparently neither of us is ready to let go of this fic, either. red sez:

So. 93k words of fic. One hell of a ride, during which there was lots of cutting, re-writing, debating and flailing over things. Some of the stuff that didn't make it will end up in a Director's Cut kind of deal eventually, but until then, we thought we'd pass the time by letting anyone who wants ask any question about pccf, the writing of it, inspiration, the vid--anything really.

Want to know the story behind Ryan's safeword? Where all the French came from? What was going through Ryan's head during the spooning!sex? What sparked this or that scene? Who wrote what? What movie the naked boys on the bed in the vid are from? Something else? Put your question in a comment, and we will get back to you. :-)

i'd like to add that this doubles as something akin to that timestamp post that was going around some weeks back, where if you give me a point in time in the future of this fic, i'll write you 100 words of what's going on in that moment. or something. it may not be 100 words or formal fic, but i'll certainly tell you what's going on. :P i had a great image last night of jon and spencer pounding on ryan and brendon's hotel room door some 10-12 months later and bellowing, "are you done fucking yet?" jon adds, "we have popcorn." zack adds, "and beer," and brendon's sold.

LOL LOL LOL!!! Colin already HAS fanfiction on his fanfiction. That's how this whole co-write/brain-melt/dirty talk/engagement thing got started with us. Stick it out for the director's cut and you'll have at least... three pieces I think. LOL LOL LOL (but hey, feel free to write more! I promised I would write the Shane/Brendon bj-in-a-carwash prequel scene, but if someone wants to take that one off my hands, I'd be very happy to give it away. :-D)

3) The day they met. Both of them. Ryan is just INSANELY slow on the uptake. LOL. (This is my Ryden default always. It takes A LOT to convince me that anything other than love at first sight (or, within a week at least) should apply. LOL.)

This is probably not the official version for THIS story though. So, you know. Don't mind me. I'll just sit here with my tinhat and rub my hands gleefully together.

4) Favourite sexscene is a tie between wedding-night!sex (first time they go bareback) and pianissimo-powerplay!sex. The first one because it was awesome to write (first scene we really co-wrote for this) and the second because I love powerplay and that scene sort of spurred a whole debate on RYAN'S safeword and how that came about (more on that in the director's cut. :-))

Favourite non-sex scene? I really loved the pornfiction war with Pete and Patrick, have to admit. Throw Patrick Stump into ANYTHING, and I'm pretty much guaranteed to adore it. Plus, I couldn't breathe properly for hours after reading that. So funny. I also love Brendon's lyrics. It was the first time I wrote lyrics in Brendon's voice and it was so different from writing lyrics for Ryan. I wrote them in France, when I'd just come back from skiing and had our tiny, tiny room for myself for a while. Working on the story felt like a little piece of home. It was kind of wonderful.

OK. Changed my mind. I completely agree with you with this now. Because that is totally my default canon too – the day they met. I also have an incredibly shiny tin hat which I am oh-so-proud of, and I honestly believe Brendon fell in love with him the first day he met him. And Ryan too, but he’s so so so slow and didn’t realise for ages. But yes, Love and first sight and the whole shebang, because I am like Brendon and want the whole Disney Deal. XD

And I am a lazy arse and I’m just gonna copy and paste what I said to Colin about this, because it’s late and I cba to type it out again. Sorry! :)

I do have to change my mind now and agree that it was when they first met. Most definitely for Brendon. Just, first time he met him, he fell completely and utterly in love and never looked back. But Ryan, I think it was more subtle. I think he did fall in love with him the first time they met, but he didn’t realise at the time. Maybe he suspected and it freaked him out, so he kinda suppressed the feelings. And that’s why it took him so long to come to his senses – he was trying to fight it and push it down and was just completely refusing to deal with it... (and I’m pretty sure I can somehow link Freud into this but I’m not going to...) And of course the kiss two years ago wouldn’t have helped this at all... maybe that was a moment of weakness when the suppressed feelings kinda bubbled up and overflowed out of him (and I can’t believe I just wrote that either, but I can’t think how to say it better. Fail, self.) But maybe he finally broke and accepted that he was in love with him and THAT’S what made him take the trip with Brendon, but he still didn’t know how to deal with it and wasn’t comfortable with it and it was freaking him out and shit (cause, hello, kinda major revelation to Ross’s faily brain).
And whilst on the trip, he accepted it and gave into it and got OK with it. I think the pivotal moment is exactly when you said – when he says it out loud. I think that is the exact moment he has realised he’s completely and utterly fucked. He’s completely and utterly in love, there’s nothing he can do about it, and there is no way he can run anymore because this is just how it’s Meant To Be. Forever. The End. <3

4) I think those two, along with Spooning!sex are my favourite too. I loved the whole emphasis of trust there was with the kinks one, especially how freaked out Ryan gets when he realises he actually had to nake Brendon use his safe word. That scene was so so powerful. And hot. And that is always a good combination. :P

Throw Patrick Stump into ANYTHING, and I'm pretty much guaranteed to adore it.

The bad!fic exchange had me curling up in a ball in my bed and whimpering I was laughing so so much. I was almost sick I was laughing so much, so that is certainly one of my favourite bits too. :)

Even when you’re not writing fic your words are beautiful dude. Lol. But I completely understand – I know exactly what that feels like. And it must have been so different getting in the mindset to writing Brendon-lyrics rather than |Ryan-lyrics, But I think you did a marvellous job. The lyrics are one of my favourite things about this. It’s always dangerous writing original lyrics for fic, but you really nailed it, so kudos to you. \0/
